The Grange Sailing Club has a long tradition of training newcomers to the sport.

The Club owns a selection of boats suitable for training purposes and trainees are encouraged

to use these boats both in training and during normal club racing. The boats owned by the club

include five Holdfast Trainers, 2 Herons and 1 Laser. When training numbers are

high several other boats can be called in as well to allow everyone to get the most out of the

session. A 125 is also available and soon, hopefully, we are adding 2 Hoby 14s.

We have experienced and qualified training volunteers, most of whom came through the training

program themselves in years past and went on to become successful competitors themselves.

A 14 foot aluminium dinghy with a suitable outboard, is used for training.

At times when there is a large group of trainees on the water we usually launch one of our regular rescue boats as well to help maintain high standards of safety.

Practical training is held on Saturday mornings during our Summer season (weather permitting) with a theory session on most Friday evenings at 6:30.
