Training
The Grange Sailing Club has a long tradition of training newcomers to the sport.
The Club owns a selection of boats suitable for training purposes and trainees
are encouraged to use these boats both in training and during normal club racing.
The boats owned by the club include five Holdfast Trainers, 1 Heron and 1 Laser.
When training numbers are high several other boats can be called in as well to
allow everyone to get the most out of the session. A 125 is also available and
2 Hoby 14 catarmarans are now proudly in our fleet.

We have experienced and qualified training volunteers, most of whom came through the
training program themselves in years past and went on to become successful competitors
themselves.
At times when there is a large group of trainees on the water we usually launch one
of our regular rescue boats as well to help maintain high standards of safety.
Practical training is held on Saturday mornings during our Summer season (weather
permitting) with a theory session on most Friday evenings at 6:30.
Facilities
The Club provides all the facilities a sailor could want.
There is a large bitumised rigging area in front of the club rooms with a
wide paved ramp leading to the beach and three tractors available for towing
boats.
We have four modern, fast and safe rescue boats crewed by people with many
years experience in all kinds of weather. The club has large, separate male
and female change rooms with lots of showers and plenty of hot water.
After the race there's the upstairs bar with all drinks at very reasonable
prices snd there's often hot food on as well.

Our main rescue boats are 16' Vincent Crafts built to survey spec.
with 75HP Mariner outboards. These excellent sea boats are strong, fast, safe and
reliable. They are fully equipped to allow the crews to deal with all situations
that can occur in yacht racing. |
